Khao Kheow Open Zoo has gained international attention thanks to the live streaming of Moo-Deng, a baby pygmy hippo. Since her debut, the zoo has reported remarkable financial success. Between September 1 and 19, it generated over 12 million baht from ticket sales. The zoo expects to attract around one million visitors by the end of this fiscal year, potentially leading to total revenue of 200 million baht.

Zoo director Narongwit Chodchoi noted that public interest in Moo-Deng has significantly boosted visitor numbers. In just the first 19 days of September, 81,786 people visited the zoo, resulting in ticket sales of nearly 13 million baht, equivalent to about US$393,900. The ongoing craze for Moo-Deng is drawing in more foreign visitors, especially from neighboring Asian countries like Japan, China, and South Korea.

To keep fans engaged, the zoo recently launched 24-hour live streams on zoodiolive.com, showcasing Moo-Deng alongside other animals. On the evening of September 20, these streams attracted around 44,000 viewers. Many fans tune in during her most active hours, from 7:45 AM to 9 AM, as well as during the afternoon feedings with her mother, Jona.

During these busy periods, visitors must line up for a chance to meet Moo-Deng. Each visitor gets a brief five-minute interaction, while those wishing to spend more time must wait in line again.

In an exciting development, the organizers of the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix have officially invited Moo-Deng to attend the race next year in Florida, according to the Bangkok Post.

Taking advantage of her popularity, the zoo has also launched a line of merchandise. A limited batch of 700 T-shirts featuring Moo-Deng has been made available for sale at the Green Mountain restaurant. Each shirt costs 329 baht, or about US$10. This strategy not only enhances Moo-Deng’s brand but also adds to the zoo’s growing revenue stream.

In related news, Khao Kheow Open Zoo attracted 12,000 visitors on September 15 to see Moo-Deng, the baby pygmy hippo. This surge prompted organized viewing sessions. Director Attaporn Srirang noted positive impacts on other zoos, while the zoo continues to emphasize animal welfare and respect for its residents.
